Sepsis is defined as an inflammatory mechanism by an organism in response to a pathogen. The controversies of sepsis in adults in comparison with sepsis in children are discussed in this paper. The fact that the clinical symptoms or laboratory parameters of sepsis do not exist. Definition and etiology of sepsis and SIRS (systemic inflammatory response syndrom) in children are different from that in adults. Sepsis therapy must be complete in consideration to MODS (multiple organ dysfunction syndrom) and other factors. We discussed basic facts in different therapies of sepsis in adults and children.
