This paper is focused on mercury, a plentifully used chemical element. This chemical element can also be life threatening. Mercury
is encountered in daily life, although not as frequently as before. The paper describes the symptoms of both acute and chronic poisoning
caused by this chemical element. A case report is presented of a 35-year-old man who was poisoned with mercury. The diagnosis
and resulting treatment of this poisoning are described. The case also demonstrates the body's individual reaction to an increased level
of mercury that can be perceived very subjectively by patients.
