The aim of the presented study was to analyze reported adverse drug reaction (ADR) and number of prescribed drugs among patients after myocardial infarction (MI). We evaluated the adherence of doctors to guidelines for secondary prevention after IM, and adherence to using of four Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) drug groups (antithrombotic drugs, ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers and lipid lowering drugs) and their combination after IM. Method. Statistical processing of 103 patients with IM, which were hospitalized at the I. Approximately 70 % patients have only mild symptoms and fundamental therapy is non-pharmacological aids, diet and psychological treatment or from time to time antispasmodics. Chronic viral hepatitis B and C represent very well recognised financial and health problems in the developed countries. These viral infections and their consequences (liver cirrhosis and liver cancer) affect all social levels of population. Furthermore, health care in these cases may be very expensive. Applying of both preventive measures (as universal vaccination and screening for viral hepatitis) and specific antiviral treatment are the only two ways how to decrease the costs of care for patients with advanced liver disease. On the individual basis the antiviral treatment may prevent progression of liver lesion to liver cirrhosis and to hepatocellular...

Drug-induced acute pancreatitis is a relatively rare adverse effect of drugs on gastrointestinal system. In patients suffering inflammatory bowel diseases is incidence of acute pancreatitis higher than in general population and drug-induced pancreatic damage constitutes an important cause of this complication. The most threatened patients seems to be females suffering Crohn`s disease, the most dangerous drugs being azathioprine and mesalazine. The risk of other drugs is significantly lower.

Glycylcyclines are a new class of antibiotics derived from minocycline. These tetracycline analogues are specifically designed to overcome mechanisms of tetracycline resistance, namely resistance mediated by acquired efflux pumps and/or ribosomal protection. Presently, tigecycline is the only glycylcycline antibiotic for clinical use. Tigecycline is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic parenteral agent active against many Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria and anaerobes, including activity against multidrugresistant strains. It has no activity against Pseudomonas spp. or Proteus spp. It is given by slow intravenous infusion – single...

Physicians always do not prescribe drugs in optimal, therefore they should be provided by feed-back by means of evaluation of their prescribing habbits. This evaluation is based on drug statistics, which can identify drug related problems which can be present in prescriptions issued by individual physician, eg. suboptimal choice of antibiotics, clinically relevant drug-drug interactions, drugs potentially harmfull to seniors, etc. In this paper pharmacotherapeutical committees in Netherlands are mentioned as well as methods, by which rational pharmacotherapy is supported, which are successfully used in developed countries of Europe. From their experiences...
