Fluoroquinolones are purely synthetic agents with antibacterial effects. For their excellent properties and a broad spectrum of activity, they are well established in the treatment of many bacterial diseases. Fluoroquinolones are commonly used in both human and veterinary medicine. However, their application is associated with potential development and spread of bacterial resistance, impairing the activity of these excellent agents.

Computer programs offering electronic prescription support (EPP) are in developed countries widely dispersed, but they are not exploited in an optimal way routinely. In this paper elaborated on the basis of foreign studies we describe the rate of the change of physicians ´s prescribing habbits evoked by EPP programs on the field of potential drug interactions (PLI) and also is shown how physicians percieve such programs. Physicians consider these programs being helpfull but are worried about credibility of information provided by these programs and consider some warnings issued by these programs as irrelevant and bothering. The goal of this short review is to inform readers about the position and utilization of biological agents in therapy of selected rheumatic disorders. The advancement of biological agents in last two decades and their introduction in clinical practice led to prognosis improvement in very active rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis patients, who did not respond to conventional therapy. The authors discuss the selected biological agents – their indications, the follow up of their effects, the adverse events and pitfalls of their usage.

Risk management systems – risk minimization action plans (RiskMAPs), risk evaluation and mitigation strategies (REMS), risk management plans (RMPs) and restricted drug distribution systems (RDDSs) are discussed. The author describes several the most famous programs like APPRISE (darbepoetin alfa, Aranesp®, epoetin alfa, Epogen®, Procrit®), ATAP (alglucosidase alfa), E.A.S.E.™ (alvimopan, Entereg®), FOCUS (fentanyl, Onsolis™), LEAP (ambrisentan, Letairis®), Lumizyme ACE (alglucosidase alfa, Lumizyme™), MTAP (alglucosidase alfa, Myozyme®), NEXUS (romiplostim, Nplate™), PLUS (abarelix,...

The current approach to secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) in chronic kidney disease is much broader than in the past. The disorder is now considered to be a part of a multisystem disease which implies not only deviations in the laboratory markers of bone metabolism, but also the formation of extraosseous (predominantly vascular) calcifications and abnormalities in bone volume, mineralization and turnover. This comprehensive view of the issue was the reason why a new term has been introduced: Chronic Kidney Disease-Mineral and Bone Disorder (CKD-MBD). Based on the results of large mortality studies, current treatment for this disorder is...

Methods: The patient was treated with combination of lamotrigine and valproic acid. Milk and blood samples from the mother and her breastfed infant were collected at delivery and during first postnatal month. Maternal serum levels were used for the estimation of apparent oral clearance. Paired milk and maternal, infant and maternal and infant and milk concentrations were used for...
